Additionally, financial aid is provided to law students from economically disadvantaged families. <br \/>Through this program, we aim to encourage and assist students in need while helping them gain an early understanding of career planning and the mission of legal professionals. Our goal is to maintain long-term and sustained investment in this effort, which forms a crucial part of our public welfare initiatives. <br \/>Since the establishment of the Scholarship and Financial Aid Program 17 years ago, over 1,000 applications have been received, with more than 100 winners and a total distribution amounting to nearly NTD 5 million. Under the current law, the statute of limitations for tort claims is only two years from when the claimant becomes aware of the harm and ten years from the occurrence of the harm. However, minors, due to their limited social experience, often struggle to understand the nature of offenses such as sexual assault, harassment, or other violations of children&#8217;s rights.\u00a0 Additionally, considerations such as family reputation or societal pressures may deter parents or legal guardians from pursuing civil compensation in a timely manner. Consequently, when victims reach adulthood and wish to pursue claims against perpetrators, they often find themselves barred by the existing statute of limitations, infringing on their rights. To address this, we advocate for allowing victims the opportunity to decide by themselves whether to pursue claims after reaching adulthood. The draft amendment has already passed its first reading in the Legislative Yuan with joint sponsorship and is now poised for committee discussions. Over the past three years, we have co-hosted more than 20 public lectures and legal knowledge-sharing sessions with the foundation.
